Just wanted to see what sort of exercise ya'll are doing today!

Me: 30 min on elliptical at an allarmingly slow pace.  Will hit the outdoor track later I think or maybe do zumba.  Have a 5k on May 14th so gotta get moving on training!

Cool!  I'm training for a 10k on June 9.  I have lots of work to do!

Last night, I ran for the 3rd day in a row... which was probably a mistake.  I need to have more rest days if I want to increase my distance...

Tonight, I'm playing volleyball, so that's a nice cross-training activity.  Tomorrow I really need to take the day off if I want to run any amount of distance on Thursday.

For your 5k, you might consider googling Hal Higdon training plans... very helpful!!

Has your surgeon cleared you for 5k this soon? I had a hard time with the elliptical, knee keeps buckling so walking does the trick for me plus a home gym. I am thinking of buying my sister's treadmill soon so thinking I will like to try the couch to 5k soon just don't know if my knee will allow it but won't know until I try. When I am out walking i so want to pick the feet up and run a bit. I have to read a bit more of how to do the program but would like to do it in the comforts of my own home instead of outside infront of everyone until I find something to hold the goods down.

As much cardio as I want, no weights and specific ab wor****il 6 weeks.

ETA: I was a pretty heavy exercise person before surgery.  I'm not back to pre-surgery levels yet but I'm getting there.  I would definitely say someone who has never exercised much would be hard pressed to do a 5k 5 weeks out from surgery!  This 24lbs I've just lost since surgery has made exercise so much easier though.  I ran a 5k for training the other day in 40 min.  So sloooooooooow but I can definitely see myself being ready for the race.

That's awesome, good to know that the pre surgery exercise helps you out lots more. I couldn't really do anything like walk or run due to the foot pain I had for years and loving being able to walk lots now. I am kinda stuck at home for a few days now with my child but hoping to get back into the swing of things next week when they are able to go to school again. I have both children home today so no chance on taking a break while my oldest sleeps. I have to be here to get them up to use the washroom but hoping to go back to work tomorrow or the next day for half days, it is better then nothing. I do have to take my care incase they contact me to come right home though so hard to get my walking in and trying to make up for a few hours.

My weight loss slooowed the last few weeks so I decided to add 45 minutes of cardio to my daily 15-30 minutes of walking. I do any type of cardio from Zumba, Tae Bo to even "old school" step areobics. Feels good to sweat now when I used to hate it with a passion before!

I think I just did an exercise post on my blog (??#? memory is going!)

My normal schedule is:

Monday: 30-45 Min Cardio Machine (Elliptical/Treadmill/Bike) and then 30 Min Metabolic Effect Class
Tuesday: 45-60 Min Cardio Machine
Wednesday: 30-45 Min Cardio Machine and 60 Minute Body Pump
Thursday: 30-45 Min Cardio Machine and 60 Minute Yoga
Friday-45ish Min Cardio Machine
Saturday-60 Min Step Class and 60 Min Body Pump
Sunday-Off, but that means yardwork and cleaning.

I tend to be one of the people that go against the grain on here.  I work with a nutritionist and a personal trainer, and eat more calories and carbs than the standard "600-800 and less than 40 grams of carbs" because I workout so much.  When I stick with those numbers, I stall very quickly.  As soon as I reintroduced higher calories and higher carbs I immdiately started losing again.  I also hit about 100+ grams of protein a day.

That is quite the schedule there, do you have a wife? I find it hard with work and children to fit that type of schedule in.

I have a husband and two step children.  If the kids were with us full time, my schedule would be much more difficult to keep, but I do work a lot of 50-60 hour weeks, and still make the time to workout 60-90 minutes a day.  I'm just very very sleep deprived at times, ha!
